Many of us want to be successful so that we can give generously.
Unfortunately, the opportunities that we have to be generous often pass us by so quickly that we rarely get the chance to be as generous as we would like to be.
In this video James Lenhoff, Director of Mission at Wealthquest, teaches us how to create a system that will help us say yes rather than no to opportunities to be generous.
But first, it’s important to answer the following question: why do we often say no to generosity?
When we pass on these opportunities, it’s often because we have doubtful thoughts in our head like “I’m not sure I have that in my budget”, “I’m not sure I can afford to spend that kind of time”, or “I’m not sure I have this set aside and ready to go, so I better pass for now and maybe the next time I’ll be ready.”
However, if we keep making these excuses we’ll never be able to realize our vision of generosity.
The best way to create a system that will allow us to be generous without second-guessing ourselves is to set aside some of our money so that we don’t have to constantly think about whether we can afford to make a gift or not.
This way, when we’re presented with the opportunity to be generous, we can immediately take action without hesitation or being afraid of not having enough.
The key to staying involved in generosity is making it a part of your financial plan and knowing that you can afford to make the immediate decision to be generous when an opportunity that aligns with your vision presents itself to you.
It’s only by being generous that we can live richer, happier, and more fulfilling lives.
