There is dignity after divorce.
Divorce can be so messy, difficult, emotional, confusing and even traumatic.Â
It can be so hard to prevent divorce from throwing you into a tailspin. Especially when it comes to handling your finances after a divorce.Â
We’ve had the honor of helping our clients make their way through this difficult season of life and we wish we had Christine Luken’s book when we did.Â
One important thing Christine and James point out in this podcast is that divorce is so difficult because it’s so emotionally charged. And as you know if you listen to the show, money is extremely emotional. When money and emotions mix, we have to be patient, calm and intentional as we make decisions.Â
As Christine puts it, take the time to ask yourself this simple question:
“How will this decision affect me today and in the future?”
It’s too easy to lean into your anger and push harder than you need to for things that don’t matter.
It’s too easy to want it all to be done and just “give it all away” so you can avoid conflict.Â
It’s too easy to let overwhelm and confusion force you to freeze and do nothing.
But slowing down to ask this question will help you make wise decisions. Â
Listen to this week’s podcast to learn:
- How to find emotional dignity after divorce
- How to preserve your financial dignity after divorce
- Christine’s own journey through an “almost” divorce
